AirBlue Airline

Even though young and small, Airblue Airline now is considered Pakistan’s second largest airline with over 20% share of the domestic market. Airblue was established in 2003 and started operations in 2004 with 3 leased planes only. The flight schedule then was limited to Karachi-Lahore and Karachi-Islamabad with 3 daily flights in each direction.

Nowadays, Airblue uses Jinnah International Airport to operate its scheduled flights linking 4 main domestic cities (Karachi, Islamabad, Lahore, and Peshawar) with International destinations in United Arab Emirates, Oman, Turkey, and England. As of August 2012, Airblue fleet consists of 8 Airbuses; four A319-100, two A320-200, and two A340-300.

After introducing a business class for a while, the idea proved unsuccessful and Airblue converted their fleet to all economy class. The layout was 2 by 2 with inflight televisions and leather seating and the cockpit of the airblue planes are all digital. All aircraft now are in a 3 by 3 all economy layout.

E-ticketing and online booking in addition to other electronic services were first introduced in Pakistan by Airblue. Airblue website reservations system automatically retrieves all available flights and presents the lowest fares that meet the different needs of customers.

Passengers can also check published fares for any given flight, by visiting online reservations centre to retrieve current fares. Planning ahead and booking in advance save 10 to 90% on many flights, while online purchase can save up to 7%.

Blue Miles is Airblue specia frequent flyer program. Once passengers earn enough miles, they may qualify for express check in, lounge access and free tickets.
