The Best Transatlantic Airline at the 2012

BRITISH AIRWAYS has accepted the top award for the Best Transatlantic Airline at the 2012 Skytrax World Airline Awards held at Farnborough Air Show.

British Airways (BA) is the flag carrier airline of the United Kingdom, based in Waterside, near its main hub at London Heathrow Airport. It is the largest airline in the UK based on fleet size, international flights and international destinations and second largest measured by passengers carried, behind easy Jet.

British Airways serves nearly 170 destinations, including six domestic. It is one of only ten carriers to fly to all six permanently inhabited continents.

British Airways offers up to four cabin classes on its international longhaul flights, including First, Club World (Business Class), World Traveler Plus (Premium Economy) and World Traveler (Economy), with European flights from London offering Club Europe (Business Class) and Euro Traveler (Economy Class).

The Best Business Class Onboard Catering

SWISS International Air Lines has won the Best Business Class Onboard Catering award at the Skytrax 2012 World Airline Awards held at Farnborough Air Show.

Swiss International Air Lines AG (short: Swiss) is the flag carrier airline of Switzerland operating scheduled services in Europe and to North America, South America, Africa and Asia. Its main hub is Zurich Airport (ZRH).

“SWISS Taste of Switzerland” has been delighting First and Business Class travelers on SWISS’s outbound long-haul services with its innovative and varied meal creations for ten years now. Every three months a new top chef is enlisted from a particular region of Switzerland and asked to create a series of gourmet meals for SWISS’s inflight service that put a particular focus on their home canton’s cuisine.

Swiss is introducing now “SWISS Traditions”, a new culinary concept for its Business Class passengers on European services. The new programme of inflight fare is centred on a series of classic Swiss dishes, which is supplemented by further delights associated with particular Swiss traditions and cultural events.

The cycle focuses on Basel’s loud and colourful “Fasnacht” carnival, for which inflight guests will be offered such local specialities as Basler Mehlsuppe (flour soup), Käsekuchen (cheese tart) and Basler Läckerli mousse.

SWISS Traditions is designed to familiarise the airline’s non-Swiss passengers with the historic and traditional highlights of its home country, in the tastiest way possible. The meals are available in SWISS Business on selected inbound flights.

World’s Best Airline Alliance

STAR ALLIANCE was named the World’s Best Airline Alliance at the 2012 Skytrax World Airline Awards held at Farnborough Air Show.

Star Alliance is the first and the largest global airline network in terms of daily flights, destinations and countries to which it flies, and number of member airlines within the alliance. It was founded in 1997 as the first truly global airline alliance, offering customers all over the world many destinations and an excellent travel experience.

Each day the Star Alliance’s members have a combined daily departure of 16,000 to 855 destinations in 155 countries, serving 406 million passengers annually.The CEO of the alliance is Mark Schwab, replacing former CEO Jaan Albrecht who was named the winner of the Tony Jannus Award for distinguished leadership in the field of commercial aviation in 2010.

EgyptAir, the official airline of Egypt, joined on 11 July 2008, becoming the second African airline. The airline joined following its 75th anniversary the previous year, an event which EgyptAir used to subsequently relaunch its image and brand.

The Best Low-Cost Airline in Central Asia and India

IndiGo

IndiGo Airlines, the largest low-cost carrier In India, has won the Skytrax World Airline Award 2012 for the Best Low-Cost Airline in Central Asia/India. The airline has won this award for the third time in a row. 6E (IndiGo’s IATA code) has also bagged the Best Staff Service in Central Asia/ India award at the ceremony held at the Farnborough International Air show in London.

The World Airline Rating as introduced by Skytrax carries a detailed quality analysis across more than 800 different areas of product and service delivery. The survey includes over 200 airlines, from the largest international airlines to small domestic carriers, and measured standards across more than 38 different items of airline front-line product and service.

The Best Low-Cost Airline in Central Asia and India, IndiG

IndiGo is a private domestic low-cost airline based in Gurgaon, Haryana, India. It operates domestic services linking 25 destinations. Its main base is Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

As soon as the Flight Attendant says it is safe to turn on approved electronic devices, you are free to connect. The Flight Attendant will also announce when it is time to turn off and stow your device before landing. The network will be unavailable at that time.

All you need is a WiFi enabled device with an Internet browser. You have to note that cellular devices without a WiFi component will not work with this system, and their use is restricted to Game or Airplane mode per current regulations.

The delivery included 4 passenger step trucks, 2 aircraft towbarless pushback tractors, 2 main deck loader vehicles and 24 hybrid tractors. THAI Ground Services believes the arrival of new ramp equipment will further enhance the operations of the airline’s customer service.
