Incheon International Airport has been named as the World’s Best Airport at the 2012 SKYTRAX World Airport Awards held at Passenger Terminal EXPO in Vienna. Incheon International Airport is located west of Incheon’s city center, on an artificially created piece of land between Yeongjong and Yongyu islands.

The World Airport Awards are the most prestigious recognition of quality for airports across the world, based on the annual SKYTRAX airport customer survey, covering 388 airports.

In a gala ceremony held at Passenger Terminal EXPO in Vienna, the World Airport Awards were announced by SKYTRAX. These are most coveted awards for the airport industry, and this was underlined by a record attendance at the ceremony for airports and airport hotels from across the globe.

Voted for by air travelers across the globe, this is the second time that Incheon International Airport has won the top award, the last in 2009. “We offer huge congratulations to Incheon on winning the World’s Best Airport award. After analyzing survey data, we see that consistency of the passenger experience at Incheon International Airport is behind this year’s success.” said Edward Plaisted, Chairman of SKYTRAX. “Across the World Airport Survey, Incheon International Airport achieved top 5 finishes across 8 of the 10 eligible categories, which is a remarkable achievement”.

With its four floors above ground and 2 below ground level, Incheon International Airport is the single largest building in Korea featuring the total floor space of 496,000 square meters. There are currently over 90 airlines including Cathay Pacific Airlines serving Incheon International Airport .
