Skytrax had given Cathay pacific, the international carrier of Hong Kong, a maximum five stars for its overall quality including the entertainment systems it uses. Cathay Pacific have an excellent in flight entertainment system with individual seat back screens and on demand programmes in all travel classes (only the size of the screen differs in Business and First) on long haul flights.

StudioCX, Cathay Pacific’s in-flight entertainment system, equipped with personal TVs (PTVs) in every seat, offers the latest Hollywood blockbuster movies, popular Asian and Western TV programmes, music and games. In addition, the airline provides a range different newspapers and magazines from around the world, including the airline’s award-winning in-flight magazine Discovery. Passengers with visual impairment can request for Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post in Braille to be available on board.

On medium- and long-haul aircraft featuring the new cabin designs, StudioCX provides Audio/Video On Demand (AVOD) for every passenger and offers up to 100 movies, 350 TV programmes, 888 CD albums in 24 different genres, 22 radio channels and more than 70 interactive games.

Panasonic’s eX2 system is installed on aircraft with the new seat configuration, and is available on all Boeing 747-400s, 777-300ERs and A340-300s, and selected Airbus A330-300s. All passengers on regional aircraft are offered up to 26 video channels, 22 audio channels and 15 games on a cycle basis.

Cathay Pacific passengers come from many different Asian and Western cultures, so it offers audio-visual programmes in many languages. Movies are available with alternative soundtracks in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Hindi, French, Italian or German; TV programmes are broadcast in English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese and Hindi respectively.
